Greetings Everyone!! I hope this finds you well, and feeling God's presence today, as in everyday. This - you will find; is a little dated, but I pray that it touches you and that you enjoy it.
On the Sunday morning after the "leap" forward time change...I missed church due to operator error in telling the correct time on my watch and not trusting the time on my phone. Which I guess could be a future blog on trust...lol. But what could have been a bad thing (to miss church), turned out to be such a blessing for me.
Because I got to go to church with some very special ladies, and I was able to experience a very special experience...you see I was actually raised Catholic. Due to my Mother keeping her promise to my Sicilian Grandmother. My father is first generation American. He was born to "legal" immigrants (unlike the ILLEGAL immigrants that are now pouring into our country. To which our leader choose to turn their heads away from and not do anything about it, BUT that is a totally different blog, and I am very sorry that I got side tracked there)...HOWEVER, my Mother had promised my "Sicilian" Grandmother that she would raise any children that she and my Father had in the Catholic church. My Mom being who she is; failed to mention that she would MOST likely introduce us to a multitude of different religions during that time. BUT my Mom kept her promise. We were confirmed in the Catholic church...we went through the entire process...CCD, all the training that went along with being raised in the Catholic religion. I still have the pictures of me in my confirmation gown. But once it was all over and we were confirmed...we had a more different view of what religion was all about. I am not saying that this was bad of my Mom, OR that it was a good thing, and I hope that none of you think that it is either. Because over time - we were able to have a much broader perspective on religion on a whole, and I know that helped make me the person that I am today.
But this particular day...this morning that I over slept and got to go to church with those special ladies...I found that the Catholic Religion is not much different than the churches that I had been going to during my growth in Christ...I felt "His" presence there just like I did at other churches that I had been attending...and I found that truly amazing, because that was so much different than what I remembered the Catholic religion being about. I personally believe that the Catholic religion is too ritualistic for its own good, and that the rituals get in the way of Christ doing all that He can do...but there are good God loving people that believe with all their heart in the very same God that all Christian's do...and I truly loved that! And these ladies that I was with also loved the same God that I have been growing in, as do my many other friends that practice the Catholic religion...
I left there believing that God was at work on us all within those walls...and I totally appreciate my friend bringing me there and haring that wonderful experience with me. So I want to thank her and her girls for that, and the very special privilege of getting to be with them when her oldest daughter was "confirmed" into a beautiful God loving religion.
Until next time;
Father I come to you today to ask You to continue to open my eyes to Your love no matter where I find it, or what form it comes to me in. I ask that you continue to guide all Christians to do Your deeds, to follow the path that You have designated for them personally, because You and only You know exactly what that path is. We seek your strength in everything we do, Your love for everyone we come into contact with and for Your unbridled wisdom in everything You put in front of us...these things we pray in Jesus' Holy name, Amen.
